Dear Miss Simpson
I have the pleasure in writing to thank you for your very nice pair of socks which I was very pleased to have received. They were very much welcome in time of need, they were very welcome believe me.
I was stationed in Hamilton in the Westinghouse Barracks [in] the Winter 1916. I was in the 164 Battalion and my Home is in Oakville which is very close as you know. I made a great number of friends while in Hamilton. I liked the City fine also the People which I have met.
