Transcript:
an old dear and grew quite eloquent on the subject of the war. The congregation was an interesting study – mostly women and old, gnarled, sunburned farm labourers, all with the stolidity of the typical Flemish peasant and the black, square-cut, Sunday clothes that looked as though they had been made for their great-great grandfathers.
