Memo in which Jack McClelland expresses admiration for the manuscript of The Double Hook, but admits having concern about its potential commercial success. The 'Salter' referred to is Frederick Salter, who taught creative writing at University of Alberta and championed the book.

Memorandum from Jack McClelland to Claire Pratt regarding Sheila Watson ms.
I agree with you and Salter that this is very good indeed. It is very skilful [sic] writing. I am not certain that it is quite as good as he thinks it is but I am no judge at that level. It will not be an easy book to sell unless a lot of critics agree with Salter but I think they will. I have passed the ms. to Earl Birney for an opinion. I am passing Salter's foreward [sic] back to you because I think it may influence the reader unduly.
