canpubDescriptionFull Title: Wilfred Campbell's notebookDescription: One of Campbell’s earliest notebooks shows that he was writing poetry during his early religious training. The front of this notebook has a label bearing a Cambridge, Massachusetts stationer’s address, suggesting that Campbell purchased the notebook during his time in Cambridge at the Episcopal Theological School (1883-86). The left-hand side of the page features a section of one of Campbell’s sermons, while the right-hand side of the page records a draft of the poem “With Cortez in Mexico, 1519,” which was published in the Magazine of American History in March 1888.
